Mavericks "hop" back into learning!

Clay County 4-H Rabbit Ranglers club leader Mel Brichta brought in five different breeds of her beautiful rabbits today!

Mel shared many fun bunny facts, including that there are 51 breeds, that their teeth can grow up to 6 inches per year, and that rabbits are used for five different things: livestock/food, fiber, fur, to show and as pets.

She encouraged students to do their research before jumping into being a bunny owner. However, she equally stressed that these animals can be wonderful 4-H projects for the right person.

The presentation wrapped up with the students sitting in a circle while Nelson, the Flemish Giant rabbit, hopped from one student to another as children pet and awed at his lovable cuteness.

Sometimes coming back from Spring Break can be a real chore, but we are thankful Mel helped us "hop" back into the swing of things with a bit of bunny fun!
