The K-6th graders headed to Oneota Park yesterday for a field trip under the stars!
Clay County Conservationist, Bri Blom, kept the children engaged and full of wonder with the ever beautiful and majestic "Star Lab" experience.
Students looked at moon phases, constellations, and the rising and setting of the sun!
Do any of our Maverick families, community members, or former Mavericks remember their trips to Star Lab or to the Cherokee Sanford Museum and Planetarium? It is a trip most will never forget!
Thank you to our Clay County Conservation for bringing such wonderful educational experiences to our Mavericks!

CONGRATULATIONS to these talented Mavericks! We know you will represent CCE well!

The kindergarten class enjoyed a guidance lesson on TEAMWORK last week!
We watched a fun Curious George clip on how teamwork can really make a difference in reaching our goals.
We then broke out the bags game and timed ourselves, each trying to make five points alone. We found that this took a long time and was quite hard to reach our goal in a timely fashion, if at all.
However, when we split into teams, we could easily reach our goals within the allotted timeframe and enjoyed doing so as well!
Teamwork really can make the dream work!
Our Mavericks synergize and execute teamwork so well!

Our Mavericks made their PBIS goal for being AMAZING Maverick leaders and as their reward they chose to do a fun "Dress Up as a Teacher/Student Day!" dress up day!
SO MUCH FUN!
To top off their day, they were treated to ice cream before heading home!
Kudos to our Mavericks for being wonderful examples of responsible, respectful and ready leaders!

We love our Mavericks!

Our staff may look crazy, but they sure are fun!
Look at the Cat in the Hat with Thing 2 and Thing 1!

It's Read Around America Week, aka Dr. Seuss Week, at CCE!
Our Mavericks are enjoying their Dr. Seuss inspired dress up days and to top off the fun, they were given an extra credit assignment from Mrs. Toft to create their own Dr. Seuss book title and cover!
The voting was too close, and competition was fierce! We landed on 3 upperclassmen winners and 3 lower elementary winners!
Congratulations to our creative and imaginative Mavericks!
'We are so proud of all that you do and all that you are!
With those imaginations and skills, you're sure to go far!"

The 4th-6th graders have been partaking in a Reading Challenge program throughout the past few months.
Students gave themselves a goal of how many books they would read within the 2.5 months of the program.
Those that met their reading challenge goal were treated to Quik Spot breakfast pizza and delicious donuts while watching a fun episode of MythBusters this morning!
We are so proud of our Mavericks for setting quality WIGS (Wildly Important Goals) and achieving those goals with hard work and positivity!
Congratulations, Maverick readers!
