At CCE we get the honor of periodically surprising our students with fun incentives called "Surprise and Delights." However, we know how equally important it is to highlight our amazing staff too.
So, today we let the teachers take a break, kick back, watch a movie, and enjoy their very own "Pop" up Surprise and Delight" afternoon!
For an entire hour, the staff retreated to the music room to watch the ever-hilarious Grumpy Old Men while enjoying a pop and popcorn bar with all the fixin's! They were even served by a cheerful group of students ready to pamper our teachers/staff!
Students then headed to the gym for an hour of recess joy! They jammed out to their favorite tunes, played basketball and other games with friends, created a giant circle to play hot potato, and even ended the afternoon with a few rounds of Limbo!
While it may be rainy and gloomy outside, it was a joyous day for staff and student Mavericks!
Thank you to our amazing staff for all you do for our school and students. You are truly WONDERFUL and worthy of a movie break!

CC/E's Lighthouse Team spent a fabulous day touring a Leader In Me school in Ankeny today. We also listened to the founders of Leader in Me, Muriel Summers & Sean Covey, speak.
We laughed, we cried, and we loved learning new ways to celebrate growth and & confidence in our learners.
We ARE preparing MAVERICKS for life as leaders of themselves and others everyday at CC/E. 😊

In Creativity Class on Wednesday, our 2nd graders sculpted clay snails after listening to the story, "Snail Trail-A Journey Through Modern Art" by Jo Saxton. Next week, the students will paint their creations and then take them home. Nice job, Mavs!!! 🐌

Our Mavericks had the opportunity to experiment with Chigiri-e, the Japanese art of paper tearing during Talent Development this week. The students did a remarkable job of creating original works with tiny bits of construction paper and glue. Kudos to our talented kiddos!!!

What better way to start a Saturday than by telling you of our irreplaceable bus driver, Dave?!
He brought our Mavericks ice cream on their afternoon bus routes home and they were NOT mad about it!
It’s gestures like this that make CCE feel like a home away from home.
Thank you, Dave for going the extra mile for our Mavericks!
