The kindergarten and first grade classes headed to Louie Dehrkoop's pumpkin patch for an outdoor excursion this week! Each came home with a beautiful pumpkin of their own.
Thank you, Louie, for your kindness and allowing our students some fun on your farm!

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." L.M. Montgomery

Mrs. Kimball has an annual tradition of reading the book Harvey Potter's Balloon Farm to CCE's 5th and Kindergarten students.
The children love this beautiful tale and are even more enthused when the story leads them to the Nature Learning Center where they happily find "planted" balloons for them to "pick" and keep.
Stories coming alive at CCE is just one more reason that CCE is the place to be!

Time is ticking to earn our students more books!
Until Sunday night, you can contribute through the invitation from your favorite student or make a school-wide contribution: https://bit.ly/CCEEContributionLink.
Fun fact! Teachers can earn shopping sprees for classroom supplies or books when 60% or more of their students register and send 10+ invites to family and friends.
Thanks for supporting our teachers! #BookBlastAdventures

Attention Book Blaster families! We have only a few days left!
Now is the time to contribute through the invitation from your favorite student or to make a school-wide contribution: https://bit.ly/CCEEContributionLink.
You have until Sunday night to contribute.
Thank you to everyone in our community and beyond that has contributed to our Book Blast event! Your support will help students take home as many books as possible, up to 10 each. In our quest to promote literacy and reading, every new book is like gold to be treasured!

Mavericks Create students were treated to a visit from Mrs. Haroldson on Tuesday. Our after-school club members learned the art of cookie decorating courtesy of Mrs. H. Not only did our little Mavs have a blast making their masterpieces, they got eat their work when done. Yum!

Please send RSVP's back by Thursday, October 19th. Hope you can come and join the fun!!

Royal Fire Department's Chief Matt Goyette came to visit the students today and discuss the importance of fire safety.
He encouraged students to sleep with the door shut, knowing that this has saved countless lives by keeping the fire at bay and buying fire fighters more time to save whoever is inside. He encouraged the students to make a fire escape plan for their home and to never play with flammable items.
Matt sent the children home with educational materials for the home, a new confidence in fire safety and a fire helmet to remind them of today's lesson.
Thank you to Chief Goyette, the Royal Fire Department and Everly Fire Department for their continued service and support of the Clay Central Everly communities and our Mavericks!

Our Mavericks take pride in staying healthy and learning healthy habits.
Students recently celebrated Iowa's 13th annual Healthiest State Walk by inviting the community and families to join students and staff on a walk around town!
Go Mavericks!

Usually the Mavericks' school-wide assemblies are directed by staff or guest speakers. However, last week the CCE Student Lighthouse Committee (student council) did the presenting for the first time! The student presenters were fun, witty and delivered a wonderful presentation on working together to be great leaders. We are proud of our Mavericks!

Did you know that Book Blast contributions help ensure all our students receive books? After your student earns all 10 books from the book list, additional contributions help provide more books for all our students, including those who don’t receive contributions. Your involvement makes a world of difference! #BookBlastAdventures
