CCE's 2nd graders had the opportunity to visit the Dickinson County Nature Center in Okoboji on Friday. The weather was picture-perfect as students learned more about pollinators from Danika, the Center's Environmental Education Coordinator. She shared why pollinators such as bees, birds, and butterflies are critical to the earth's ecosystem and food supply. After the presentation, students explored the nature center's amazing exhibits. They also took advantage of the gorgeous day to enjoy an outdoor picnic, hike winding trails, and spot plenty of wildlife. Thanks to the Nature Center for hosting CCE's second grade class! 🐝

The 5th graders ventured through the past at Jim's History Barn in Peterson today!
Students learned about and saw military relics from the 1700s to WW2, numerous mounted wildlife and historical fishing and hunting items, Native American artifacts including arrowheads, pioneer and settler artifacts, and many other fascinating collections! The students could have spent hours there and hope to take their families back to learn and see more!
Following our barn visit, we headed to the Fort Peterson blockhouse remains built in 1862.
Students learned that history should be learned from and respected. They learned that each of us will be part of history someday as well. Our lives, whether leaving a large or small impact on the earth/future, will make an impact, nonetheless.
Thank you to Sue Haas for the wonderful tour of your beautiful barn today! We are grateful for you!

We can't recommend our small class sizes enough!
What better way is there to nurture and educate a child than in a loving, caring, safe, and enriching environment?

The 3rd and 4th graders went to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium yesterday. We have learned about some different animals throughout the year and enjoyed getting to see them in person! Their favorite thing was seeing the elephants and gorillas and saying they were Ivan, Stella, and Ruby from their favorite read aloud book, "The One and Only Ivan".

Our TAG students were "horsing" around yesterday on their Equine Education field trip to the Brugman farm!
These Mavericks have been begging us for some one-on-one horse time, and boy, did this farm deliver!
Students were lucky enough to see a farrier at work, pet and feed the horses, learn all about tack, discover different breeds and uses for each, head to the pasture for more horse interaction, see different buggies (even a surrey with the fringe on the top!) see the old "Buggy Whip/Stubs Ranch Kitchen" statue-horse (that we bet many of our Maverick fans used to know and love,) and even sit in a buggy for a photo op!
Mr. Brugman was a wonderful tour guide, sharing his equine expertise with the Mavericks! Thank you, Mr. Brugman, for this wonderfully educational and fun experience!
Our Mavericks LOVED this visit and wished they could stay all day on the farm!

Due to continued news at the Statehouse yesterday, Mr. Wood's story is going to be rescheduled.
We will let you know the new air date/time as soon as possible. Thank you!
